Haus Schiffsmuseum

We were turned away at 6 pm on arrival, despite having booked correctly through Booking.com, because our room was supposedly too small for us and our two young children. The owners made no effort to help or find a solution. Duhnen was nearly fully booked, so finding somewhere else was very difficult. We had to cancel ourselves just to get the service fee back, which meant the accommodation kept 100% of the booking price. The owners were arrogant and rude, and we were demonstrably given false information several times, with screenshots to show it, about the booking process, the cancellation fee, and where that money went. I've booked hotels online all over the world since it became possible and have never seen anything like this. People in Cuxhaven's tourism industry were outraged and couldn't believe it. We'll keep pursuing the matter. It almost seems like a scam: perhaps they deliberately create “booking errors,” make guests cancel, keep the money, then rent the room “again.”

The exhibits have been moved by the owner, Weber, to the Windstärke 10 Museum, so this isn't a maritime museum anymore. It's basically a regular souvenir shop, and that's fine.

The room was furnished with care, and the guesthouse owner was super friendly to deal with. Great value for money. We'll definitely return.

Really cozy little holiday apartments, with very friendly landlords. I'd definitely recommend them.
