Das MutterHaus Tagungszentrum

I wanted to explore Kaiserswerth and research the beginnings of modern nursing, so Mutterhaus was an ideal place to stay. Its history gave me a real sense of being close to my research. Nursing education changed the world, and I think nurses and other healthcare professionals, as well as teachers, should hold conferences here. The hotel has remodeled a historical sight while preserving the meaning of the original architects, and the Deaconess Movement helped address all sorts of social ills. Staying here can give you a sense of how to serve humanity today, and it also supports these service professions. The experience felt authentic, the staff were delightful and competent, and breakfast was beautiful. It's only 10 minutes from the airport, which made access convenient. I felt cared for and inspired, and Mutterhaus achieved that sense of authenticity through its vision.

The grounds were beautiful and peaceful, and the building was wonderful. Great location, with parking too.

The place felt like a strange, creepy old hotel, so you'd have to like that sort of thing. It used to house nurses from the hospital, and the rooms seem to have kept a similar style. For a 4-star hotel, it was disappointing and very outdated. There was no noise insulation or controllable air, the furniture was old, and the service was rude. We asked to check in 30 minutes early and were told we could only do that if we donated to the coffee tip jar. Breakfast costs $15, but it's cafeteria style.

Our room was large and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet had lots to choose from. Everything we ate was delicious. The hotel is in a bright, comfortable small suburb of Dusseldorf, with what I think is easy train access and even a boat ride in summer.
