Hotel Villa Falkenberg

At the replacement hotel, we were charged extra even though its lower-standard rooms were listed on booking.com for less than our paid Villa Falkenberg booking. There was no baby bed, and Villa Falkenberg wouldn’t answer when we called to ask if one could be supplied. The heating was off, and the only bedding was Swedish blankets. Our baby was shivering, so the three of us had to squeeze into one bed under two narrow blankets to keep the baby somewhat warm. The toilet door was jammed open against the floor, and its glass door was essentially open to the room, so there was no privacy. We’d booked and paid in full through booking.com for a family stay with our 13 month old. When we arrived at 22:30 on a cold Friday, with temperatures of -1...-3°C, our room wasn’t available. Reception said there’d been a booking system error. Villa Falkenberg hadn’t told us ahead of time, though there’d been time to do so, and nobody answered when we phoned before arriving. In person, we were told a nearby hotel had agreed to take us and Villa Falkenberg would cover the cost, but that our booking payment wouldn’t be returned.

We stopped here during a motorcycle trip on the way to the Black Forest. The Rhein river views were great, and restaurants and shops were just a short walk away. The people running the hotel were really friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean, and breakfast was fantastic.

We stayed in an apartment at Villa Falkenberg for six weeks while looking for a house after moving internationally, and it really became home for our family of four. The staff were incredibly kind and hospitable, with several thoughtful surprises along the way. We’ve recommended the hotel to other families because of that warm welcome. The children loved playing in the beautiful backyard, which was also lovely to look out on at breakfast. The food was fresh, and the friendly kitchen staff had my favorite, a large cappuccino, ready when I arrived in the elegant dining rooms lit by candles. The building’s exterior is beautiful, and inside it mixes traditional and modern styles tastefully. We also enjoyed a few evenings with wine and friends in the common areas after the kids were in bed.

The view and surroundings were amazing, almost like a fairy tale. My room was very clean, and I loved the breakfast. A nice employee offered me coffee when I arrived. I really enjoyed staying here 😊
