Lindner Hotel Dusseldorf Airport, part of JdV by Hyatt

The hotel is close to the airport and congresscenter. Dinner was fine, and breakfast had a good selection. The reception staff were correct and helpful enough, but there was no smile or sense of welcome, and the dinner staff weren't friendly either. The rooms near the elevator were noisy. The shower barely had any water coming out, and the towels didn't smell fresh. There were no EV charging facilities in the garage or parking area.

The staff deserve credit: they were smiling, kind, friendly, and helpful at every step. The hotel was very clean, and daily cleaning is included, though you can cancel it in the app. Shops, a bakery, and the Messe are all very close. Still, four stars feels far too generous. The decor looks like it's from the 90s, and the rooms are cramped and very small. There aren't many amenities, like a coffee machine, and there's no mineral water in the room. Breakfast was tasty, but typically German and not very varied over a week. Hotels with four stars often provide a much higher standard of service.

I booked this place because I needed somewhere near DUS airport. After travelling to many countries, this was the worst hotel I've stayed in. The front desk was the worst part: they wanted payment upfront, even though I expected to pay when leaving. When I asked why, they told me to lower my voice, though I was speaking normally and not shouting. The staff could use some basic hospitality training. If I hadn't been stuck needing a place to stay, I'd have gone to any two-star motel. The room was clean but dated, and parking cost 20 Euros. I paid over 180$, which felt like a rip-off compared with other places I'd stayed and the service I got. It felt like a glorified US Motel 6.

There was nothing wrong with the staff, and the room looked OK. I was only there for one night before an early flight, and the hotel seemed fine at first. Then I found the huge problem: it was infested with COCKROACHES! 🪳 I've stayed at 20-30 different Hyatt hotels without hygiene problems before, so this was a first, and absolutely disgusting. @hyatt, please take measures to fix this. Proper hygiene should be standard across the chain. I won't stay at this hotel again.
