Hotel Königin Olga

The Wi-Fi was so slow and unreliable that I’d use a mobile hotspot if you need to work or get online. Even when it connected, it barely worked. The hotel and rooms are otherwise reasonable for three stars, though there was mold around the windows. Being close to the train station also means some noise, and the windows don’t insulate well. There’s no longer a way to wash clothes here, which could be a problem for business guests.

The beds left both of us with backaches, so we wished they were softer. Still, the room was very clean and good value. The breakfast room is adorable, and the city looks picture perfect.

We were kept awake for half the night by a group of guests who had 20 rooms at Hotel Queen Olga. The management already knew about their behavior, but didn’t warn the rest of us because the company they work for had promised they would behave better. They didn’t. When we complained, all we got was a very feeble apology. It’s a shame the hotel took on other guests while knowing what was going on, and the group and their company should be ashamed too. The rooms are good, the place is nicely decorated, and the staff were friendly, which makes this even more disappointing. If you’re thinking of booking, check who else will be staying there first.

There was a live concert in the garden in front of the hotel, with loud music past 1 a.m., and no parking was available that night. The room was dirty, with no fridge, and the Wi-Fi, TV, and hairdryer were all broken. The receptionist was VERY RUDE and seemed interested only in selling breakfast, which was overpriced and had the worst coffee ever. We reported the problems, but nothing was repaired. Night staff said they’d raise it with the owner, but the complaint was “lost” by other staff, then dismissed after calls and emails. The owner was on vacation and didn’t seem to care what happened at the hotel. Worst stay ever. DO NOT GO THERE!
