Upstalsboom Parkhotel

Parking took some thought: the outdoor spaces cost 4€ a day but were very crowded, while the garage under the building was 15€. There were also free spaces outside the area. The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from the city centre and the famous "Ratsdelft". We found the staff very friendly and breakfast had a good range. Our room was spotless and had useful equipment, including a safe, though it hadn’t been newly renovated. A very good place, highly recommend.

There’s no gym, and I found spiders and other bugs in the room and across the balcony. The hotel has lots of unused bikes, but renting one costs €10 per day. The bedding didn’t help either: only a large duvet was provided in the middle of summer, and the pillows were uncomfortable. The rooms look about 30 years old and the beds feel 40 years old. I’m surprised it’s rated four stars. It may have been great when new, but standards should be higher now. In any other city, I’d call it a two-star hotel.

The restaurant had a warm feel, friendly service, and top-quality food. Our room was spacious, very clean, and had comfortable beds and all the amenities we needed. The hotel looks fresh and new inside and out. The staff were efficient and professional, with a real focus on personal attention and helping whenever needed. The reception team in particular showed respect, courtesy, and eagerness to meet every need. Best hotel in Emden so far. I’ll definitely be back.

We liked ending the evening in the outdoor seating area with a nightcap. The buffet was fresh and plentiful, with a good selection, and the food was delicious. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful, starting at reception. Our room was clean, roomy, and comfortable. We had a wonderful two-night stay at the Upstalsboom Parkhotel in Emden.
