For a longer stay in the Kaiserstuhl area, this is one of the best hotels I’ve found, especially for a month or two. It’s a nice, clean and affordable holiday apartment, and summer seems like the best time to come. You get the essentials and more: parking, room cleaning, Wi-Fi, TV, hot water, kitchen utensils, a dishwasher, washing machine, dryer and ovens.

The location was very good, though you need a vehicle to get there. France is 9 minutes away and Switzerland 40 minutes from Basel. The apartment itself was new, spacious and furnished with clean, new furniture. The bathroom was roomy and clean, and there was a designated underground parking spot. The kitchen had a stove, oven, dishwasher, coffee machine and all the dishes and silverware needed. Check-in and check-out were both self-service. Watch your email for the safe box number; when leaving, just leave the apartment as you found it and put the key back in the box. A few things were missing: there was no coffee for the machine, and the bathroom had hand soap but no body soap or shampoo. It could also be hard to reach the hosts, and they charge extra if you contact them late in the evening.

I believe this was an attempt to scam me out of more than twice the cost of the booking, and I doubt they would have refunded me if Booking hadn’t stepped in. I’d strongly advise anyone thinking of staying here to choose somewhere else. The day after I checked out, I got an email saying I had “damaged the floor” and would be charged 1000 EUROS. The only evidence was one blurry photo of a floor that could have been anything. I’d left the apartment in perfect condition and hadn’t authorized any card charge, so I replied several times demanding they not charge me. The booking terms showed a 200 EUR deposit, so this was five times that amount. I contacted Booking support, sent them the terms and asked them to intervene. Booking contacted the property, which then claimed it had already “fixed the damage” in less than 24 hours. The day after Booking got involved and I opened a dispute with my credit card, the property emailed to say its insurance company had paid for the “damage” and that they’d refund me.

The location was great, and the apartment had a well-equipped kitchen. The rooms were large and comfortable.
