Right in the heart of Erfurt, so the location is hard to beat. The accommodation, though, had no charm, and parts of it felt neglected and unwelcoming. The toilet looked unclean, with dark deposits that should be easy to remove, and the bed sagged. At 5 degrees Celsius outside, the heating worked erratically. The place didn’t feel clean overall. There was no dish towel or dish soap, and the cups and glasses in the cupboard showed it. We weren’t expecting five stars, but it shouldn’t look like this in person. I can’t confidently call it functional, and the parking space doesn’t make up for the problems. Room 1 needs a lot of work, so I can’t recommend it.

The neighborhood is quiet, and the location is a real plus: both the train station and old town are walkable, with good tram links from the old town. But at €103 a night during the concert weekend and Christmas market, we expected a lot more for the money. The mattress was very firm and worn, with a noticeable dip, so we barely got any restful sleep. In the bathroom, the toilet flush didn’t work properly, there were many mold spots in the shower, and a visible mold stain on the ceiling above it. Water also leaked from the showerhead across the bathroom floor, which points to poor sealing and creates a safety hazard. The kitchen has a Senseo coffee machine but no coffee pods. The tiny TV got no signal, so it was unusable. We’ve stayed in places in Neuss and Düsseldorf for about half this price. The location is excellent and quiet, but with the condition of the property, technical faults, and hygiene issues, over €100 per night isn’t justified. We can’t recommend the guesthouse as it is.

The location is interesting, above a car repair shop with a messy yard, and the building looks much nicer outside than the room does. At first glance the room seemed okay, but room 1 needs a complete renovation. It was dilapidated and dirty, with plenty broken, despite the good location. There was no key in the box when we arrived. After we called the landlord, the cleaning lady came out and handed it to us. The mattress was worn through in places and hard in others, the sheets had holes, the blankets were thin, and the heating was only lukewarm. Mold covered parts of the bathroom ceiling and shower, and the toilet flush was broken. The kitchen had an odd mix of items, a grimy oven, and dirty utensils in the cupboard. The TV was clunky but did work. By the bed, you could either have the light on or charge your phone. The only other outlets were in the kitchen.
