B&B Hotel Erlangen-Süd

A convenient stop when travelling by car, since the hotel is close to the motorway. Booking was easy, it was easy to find, and staying there was comfortable. The room was very clean and had everything I needed for the night.

The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the hotel is good quality and close to the highway. We used it as a stop on a long drive, so we'd planned to leave early. We paid for breakfast but couldn't have it because the Saturday buffet didn't open until 7.30. The booking information said breakfast started at 6.30, and I didn't realize the weekend hours were different. That was a bit disappointing.

The pillows were too soft for me, and water damage meant we got two normal rooms instead of a family room. The change was handled perfectly, though. It's a great spot to sleep for a night and continue travelling the next day after a good breakfast.

If you charge an electric vehicle overnight with a slow AC charger at 80 kWh, expect the charging bill alone to easily top €100, before the room cost. For 12 hours at around 7 kW, the charges were €59.12 for energy at €0.739/kWh, €36.48 for charger use at €4.56/hour after the first 4 hours, and a fixed hotel parking fee of €5.00. Those figures are based on the Chargemap Pass rate. This hotel feels like a honey trap for EV owners. When I asked why there was a parking fee on top of the hourly charging charge, the male receptionist curtly said he wasn't the new CEO of B&B Hotels and suggested I stop using B&B if I didn't like the new pricing strategy.
