6/10
We preferred their other hotel near Essen Hbf, mainly because its room was more spacious. This one could suit people arriving by car who want an enclosed underground garage and don't mind paying over €10 per day, since the Essen Hbf hotel has no underground parking. Reception staff speak German and English fluently, and some speak a third language too. That might appeal depending on what you prefer, but we liked their Essen Hbf hotel better.

Along Rüttenscheider Street and right in front of the Martinstraße train/tram station, the hotel is in a nice spot. Lots of shops and restaurants are within walking distance. Staff were friendly and accommodating, and breakfast was good.

I had some problems during my stay, but the good points still worked for me: it's very close to the station, and the breakfast buffet was delicious.

A good choice for a short stay. Convenient location, good rooms and breakfast, and friendly staff.

8/10
Breakfast was very good, better than we expected. The room was small, but clean and nicely finished, with a good shower and bed. The hotel seems to have been renovated to a high standard, though parts of the old building show in the parking garage and hallway, and the room window was hard to open. Parking costs €12 a day, including a €3 contribution from the hotel.
