Ramada by Wyndham Essen

We really enjoyed our stay at Ramada. The rooms were tidy and the beds were great. Breakfast had lots of options and tasted fresh, and the staff were super friendly. Thanks so much, and keep it up!

It was our first stay, and we’re already planning to come back. Great room and breakfast, and a great hotel overall.

Our wedding stay at Ramada by Wyndham Essen had a lot of good moments, though check-in brought one upsetting experience that stayed with us. We had booked three rooms for ourselves and close family, hoping to relax, get ready, and celebrate together. The hotel is modern, clean, and well located for Essen’s centre, shops, and transport. It also made a lovely setting for our photos. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well furnished. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom modern, and there was enough natural light for makeup, getting dressed, and photography. My wife and I took pre-wedding photos in the room and around the hotel, and they came out beautifully. Its neutral, contemporary look suited the day. Our family enjoyed their rooms too, and the facilities and atmosphere helped us settle in and focus on the celebration. Breakfast was another good part of the stay. There was a nice selection of eggs, fresh bread, fruit, cheeses, meats, and more, with coffee and juice readily available. The room felt calm and cozy, and the breakfast staff were polite and attentive. Food was fresh and regularly replenished. The difficult part was our arrival. The staff member at the desk was cold and unwelcoming, with no greeting or smile. We asked basic questions about our rooms and check-in times because one room had been requested early so we could start getting ready. She seemed annoyed, gave very short answers, and rolled her eyes instead of helping or offering flexibility. It felt disrespectful, especially after looking forward to our wedding weekend for months. Later, we saw her being warm and polite to other guests, which left us feeling singled out. We don’t know if it was stress, bias, or just a bad attitude, but it affected our mood, especially my wife’s on her special day. Other staff we met later were much more professional and pleasant, so this felt like a problem with one employee rather than the whole team. We raised it at checkout, where the response was apologetic and we were offered a drink voucher for the trouble, which we appreciated. Ramada by Wyndham Essen has clean rooms, good food, and a convenient location, and our wedding photos there will always be part of our story. Still, service matters, especially during a big life event, and we didn’t get it at a key moment. I hope management takes this as a reason to make hospitality standards consistent. Would I stay again? Maybe, but I’d ask not to deal with the staff member who made our check-in uncomfortable.

The room was a decent size and didn’t feel cramped. It was very clean, with spotless bathroom and toilet and nice-smelling sheets. The in-room tea and coffee machine did the job. I paid €15 for parking and wished it were free. Breakfast cost extra, but it was good. There was no minibar or fridge, and I didn’t like seeing cigarette vending machines on the floors.
