The owners know their classical music, and there’s lovely music to listen to over lunch and dinner. It’s a cozy, cultured place, and a nice quiet spot for a weekend away from the city.

A really friendly staff and a peaceful setting made this a great place to stay. The beer was great too. I just wish breakfast included a decent coffee from the machine.

The village setting, mountain views, and surrounding landscape are phenomenal. There’s a pool in the large, relaxed garden, reached by a ladder. The place is committed to sustainability, with a consistently vegetarian and vegan menu and an atmosphere that feels conscious, even spiritual. They also host lectures, events, and seminars, and you can hold a yoga class here. This hotel dates back to the late 1960s and still has the alternative feel of that time. It’s more like a simple seminar center, run by incredibly friendly people who really want guests to feel welcome. The atmosphere is personal and close, and you can sense how strongly the staff believe in what they do. Exposed beams, big shared spaces, and glass walls let in plenty of light. Some restoration would help preserve this reminder of the alternative movement. The rooms are simple and wood-paneled, so it’s worth negotiating the price. For a solo traveler, it isn’t cheap for what you get, though breakfast is a plus. You could first get a feel for the place over good coffee and delicious cake, then decide whether its mix of material simplicity and philosophical richness suits you. If it does, you can expect some genuinely peaceful days.
