For two people, the apartment is just about acceptable, and Lemkenhafen on Fehmarn is a lovely place for a holiday. We’ve visited several times. The good mattresses are a definite plus, and the tree in front is nice, even though there’s no sea view. Still, it costs too much for what you get. The place was clean, and the kitchen had all the equipment you’d need, but there was hardly room to store even a few groceries. There was enough crockery for at least four extra guests, though. The yellow carpet that used to make things cozy is gone, and there aren’t any sofa cushions, so sitting at the big table is uncomfortable. That table is a strange setup: a thick, unpainted corkboard balanced unsecured on two metal trestles. Chairs can’t even be pushed underneath it. The bathroom radiator is rusty and an eyesore. The beach chair’s fabric needs attention too, or it’ll soon be hanging over your head. There’s little of the care and attention to detail you find elsewhere. The 80x80 cm pillows aren’t very comfortable and feel outdated, and we had to make the beds ourselves when we arrived. Welcome! I wouldn’t recommend the apartment for more than two people.

The quiet setting made it easy for our children to head straight out onto the terrace. There’s a little playground and some neighbor kids nearby, too. We stayed here in summer with our two children, and the apartment’s layout worked really well for a family. The kitchen felt cozy and was a good place to eat or play on rainy days. The furnishings were excellent.

Breakfast in the sun on the balcony was a real treat. The apartment had what we needed, including a separate bedroom, reliable Wi-Fi, and modern furnishings. They’d even left us a bottle of red wine. From here we had a partial sea view, with a tree blocking some of it, and lovely fresh sea air. The area was also pleasant for cycling, with good restaurants nearby.

Lemkenhafen, September 2023. I’d give Ms. Melcher and her vacation apartments five stars. The Sundblick and Kleiner Sundblick were clean, stylishly furnished, and well equipped. I haven’t stayed in Ms. Melcher’s other apartments, so I can’t speak to those. Renting was quick and easy, and she responded promptly when problems came up, even on Saturdays when she could. I highly recommend her as a landlord.
