Knusthof Lafrenz - Goldblick

The location is wonderful, with Gold beach an easy walk away, and there’s a pleasant outdoor area for relaxing. The holiday apartments have recently been renovated in a modern style, and the rooms are bright and up to date. The owners are so friendly and always available. Staying at Knusthof feels like coming home to us. We’re sure to return, it’s our favorite place to stay on Fehmarn.

We booked Apartment 2, listed as 35 square metres with a sea view and a view of a listed building. In reality, it was 28 square metres and looked out onto the courtyard and garden. The old carpet was unpleasant, and the so-called kitchen was a four-burner stove, fridge and sink in the hallway. The shower and toilet with sink were in separate rooms, each with a skylight. We had to remove 18 spiders from the window. It was far too expensive, and there was no service.

Such a huge disappointment. The apartment felt dated, with a dirty carpet, battered furniture and a bathroom that barely felt like a bathroom. The sink was clogged, the windows were dirty, and there were cobwebs everywhere. I could go on. Never again.

There’s a bread delivery service, plenty of places to sit outdoors in any weather, and lots of bicycle parking. Kids can use the playground and go-karts, and the beach is within walking distance. We had a wonderful holiday in this very nice, modernly furnished apartment, and the hosts were exceptionally friendly and keen to help with anything we needed.
