Meislahnhof Fehmarn

We returned to Meislahnhof for a second visit, our first being in 2017. The landlady and her daughter welcomed us so warmly and did everything they could to make the stay pleasant. The apartment was fantastic, and so was the visit. Our children felt at ease and had a great time. We’ll certainly be back.

We were so excited about the stay, but it was a bitter disappointment. The apartment was dirty, with grime on the floors and surfaces, and the heating didn’t work during our short visit. At arrival, the bed linen and towels were supposedly still in the dryer. Some furnishings were damaged too: a lamp hung crooked, bulbs were broken, and curtains were partly torn and held together with a clothespin. The Wi-Fi was out as well. After we messaged the landlady several times, she eventually offered us a free cancellation. She said she wasn’t available in person, despite living only a few meters away. We couldn’t enjoy our holiday in those conditions and left just hours after arriving.

For one night it was okay, though we wouldn’t want to stay longer. The apartment was clean overall, but there were leftovers in the oven and a woodlouse on the stove. It was cold, and we couldn’t really warm up the rooms we used. The kitchen heating wasn’t working. We didn’t see the landlady, though we were greeted warmly. We booked through Booking.com, and the extra charges were a bit odd. Final cleaning, bed linen, and towels are or may be charged separately.

Absolutely not recommended. Our holiday apartment booking was cancelled while we were on the way to the island, with the explanation that they weren’t open yet. But we’d booked weeks before without any trouble. This is completely unacceptable. You just don’t treat holidaymakers this way.
