Hotel Diana Feldberg

Breakfast had plenty of cereal, cheese and meat, though the meat was more smoked than I like. That may just be normal for the area. Dinner wasn't offered on Easter Monday, and guests are apparently supposed to order in the morning for the evening. We hadn't been told, but the staff made an exception for us, which we appreciated. Service was slow, but polite, and our order was right. We enjoyed how the hotel was decorated and laid out, especially having the pool by the lift and the sauna easy to reach. Hardly anyone used the pool, so my wife and I had it to ourselves for much of our stay, though that might not always happen. The sauna was a good temperature, and the shower facilities beside it were well kept. Our room also had a private bathroom. Our rooms were spacious and nicely decorated, but some of the mattresses in the three rooms we had for six people had broken springs. The bathrooms were very clean and the shower had good pressure. Parking was a bit tight, but we could always find a space. We drove a diesel car, and there were also two charging points for electric cars.

The charges after our early checkout were hard to make sense of. My friend felt unwell, so we left a day earlier than planned and paid the full room price by credit card. Four hours after checkout, the hotel charged my card twice. I froze it straight away, but kept getting alerts about unsuccessful payment attempts. The hotel later said these were an automatic error caused by leaving early, though neither amount matched our actual room rate. I eventually got the refund on Monday evening. When I called the front desk, they said they couldn't find any record of the charges. Since it was Saturday and the finance team wasn't available over the weekend, they told me to wait until Monday. After I raised it with Booking.com customer service, the hotel told Booking staff they had already agreed with me to refund the charges on Monday, which didn't match what they'd said earlier. On Sunday, a staff member emailed to ask for my bank details and said they would issue the refund. The room itself was also not as shown in the double-room photos on Booking.com. It was much smaller, had no sofa, and had a sloped ceiling. I wouldn't have booked if I'd seen pictures of the actual room. Soundproofing was poor too. I could hear children running and shouting in the hallway and other rooms all night.

We had a lovely view from the hotel, and the location was great. Breakfast offered a good range, and we enjoyed having a sauna and swimming pool. The staff were friendly and professional. Yevheniia was especially helpful: she arranged an extra night in a balcony room, as we wanted, and gave us useful information, including how to get travel permits for the area. Thank you.

We found this to be a very good three star hotel and good value. Our renovated room had new, comfortable mattresses and pillows. The toilets hadn't been renovated, but were in good condition. The pool was clean, and the sauna was always ready. From the hotel, you can see the forest directly and Titisee in the distance. There's a supermarket within walking distance. Breakfast was good too, with lots of local products. Highly recommended.
