Everything was good, with generous portions and local, seasonal ingredients. The dessert was great, and there was a very nice selection of whiskey and other schnapps. We didn't try the drinks, but that kind of selection surely isn't common.

The food is always really tasty, and the atmosphere is charming and cozy. I keep coming back to this restaurant in the Black Forest, and the service is what makes it my favourite. The waitstaff are professional and attentive, and always have a suitable wine suggestion.

The menu made good use of fresh local ingredients, with some inventive flavors too, like the homemade pine-tip limonade. I had fish, while my companions chose beef shoulder, liver and sweetbreads, pasta with chanterelles, tomatoes and herbs, and locally raised chicken with summer vegetables. We were all very happy with our meals. There were lots of interesting wines on the list, so choosing was hard. We'd arrived at the restaurant after a long, hot day of travel and felt a bit disheveled. The staff welcomed us courteously, showed us to our table right away, and were friendly, polite and helpful with suggestions. We can definitely recommend the restaurant. If the hotel staff are just as welcoming and helpful, it must be a lovely place to stay.
