NH Stuttgart Airport

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for a group unless you’re fine with being stared at. At a four star hotel, you expect at least a basic level of service, and the customer service here needs serious improvement. We know a large group can be difficult to manage, but we did our best to stay polite. The staff didn’t show us the same courtesy, even though we were paying clients, so of course we got frustrated. There were lots of booking problems, and I don’t know whether it was a computer issue or laziness. They said some people weren’t listed on the booking site or on the list we had sent. After several tries, they finally checked the list properly. The receptionist flipped through the pages, kept saying the names weren’t there, and then we found them at the very top of the first page. That was one of many examples, and not once did they apologize.

Getting to Stuttgart by public transport takes at least 50 minutes, and the airport isn’t walkable, so you need a cab or the shuttle. The rooms were tiny, old, and noisy, and the water temperature kept changing. When I asked reception if something was broken, they told me to turn on the sink and shower to cold and let them run for five minutes, then set the temperature. That’s crazy for a hotel, but apparently there was no other way to avoid getting burned. Some staff were friendly, others were the complete opposite, and I didn’t feel well treated. All in all, the negatives outweigh the positives, and I can’t recommend staying there.

It’s a nice, quiet place, and breakfast was good with a diverse menu. Despite the NH Airport name, it isn’t that close to the airport, about a 10 minute drive. There’s also an airport shuttle you can book for 8€ per person, running every 30 minutes.

The hotel is clean and comfortable, with decent rooms and great beds and pillows. I wasn’t keen on the bathroom. But after three days here with a group of 31 people, they hadn’t cleaned our rooms or changed our towels. Nobody told us about a new policy. What policy? At 10 pm, after 13 hours of work as a tour guide, I was trying to help the staff come up with a solution. I had to beg reception for towels and ask them to call the managers so we could find out where they kept them, but the managers didn’t answer the phone at night. The staff did what they could to help, but in my 15 years as a guide I’ve never encountered service this terrible. Shame on you!
