We booked the wheelchair accessible room online without having to make the usual phone call. The confirmation email didn't mention accessibility, and after bad experiences elsewhere I called to check. The staff made sure we'd get the room. It was clean, nice and quiet, with an accessible bathroom, grab armchair by the toilet, and a shower seat. The sink, oddly, was in the bedroom rather than the bathroom, which may not work well depending on your disability. The heavy main entrance door isn't automatic, so a disabled solo traveler would need strong arms to open it. The staff were friendly and very helpful, breakfast was decent with different options, and the city center location was perfect. The price was very good too. We had a great stay as a couple and would recommend it.

After leaving the review below, I was confronted by the owner at checkout the next morning, in front of my son. He was rude, nasty, and increasingly aggressive instead of apologising or reflecting on what had happened. I chose not to escalate it in front of my child, which seemed to irritate him even more. He told me we should discuss it “man to man,” then later went behind my back to complain to his wife about the review. He denied what he'd done the previous evening, saying he'd politely asked me to leave the breakfast area. This was nearly ten hours before, and several hours after, breakfast. He'd been on the phone and shooed me away like a dog that had messed on the carpet. When I acted out the scene by returning to the forbidden area, his memory suddenly improved, though the result was a classic “sorry, but not really” apology. We saw just one other guest during our three-night stay. It now feels less like chance and more like a business model, perhaps inspired by Fawlty's line: “I could run this hotel perfectly well if it wasn’t for the guests.” Germany's answer to Basil Fawlty, without the charm or comic timing, apparently. The location is great, but the hotel was horrible. It smelled terrible, the elevator was broken, and the stairs were a long climb. The front desk was usually unattended, and it was expensive. The staff were rude and unhelpful. I tried to eat a sandwich in the common area and was thrown out, so I had to sit on the corridor floor. Disgusting attitude. It might be fine for one night if you get it very, very cheap.

The location was good, but our stay at the Flensburg B&B was a disappointment. The place smelled unpleasant and looked worn and outdated, like it badly needed refurbishment. Our so-called double room had a child's bunk bed built above our bed, with hairs left in it. That was off-putting. There wasn't a proper bathroom, just a shower in the room, which felt strange and uncomfortable. The poor bed and pillows made it hard to sleep, and someone knocked early in the morning just to ask whether we were checking out that day. We've enjoyed other B&Bs much more and wouldn't stay here again.

The carpets were filthy and had a strange smell, the bathroom was tiny, and the sink wasn't inside it. Breakfast cost 12€, and apparently you had to pay to be allowed to sit at the table. The receptionist was rude and kept lying.

Basic rooms, but well equipped, very clean, and comfortable. The windows open.
