The breakfast table was good, and our room was tidy and clean, with a comfortable bed. It’s a family-run place, and the welcome was friendly and helpful. The old hallway carpet could do with replacing, though. A different floor would look cleaner and nicer.

The owner was kind, and the place was relatively clean. The street gets pretty noisy, though closing the window helps a lot. Breakfast was adequate. The bed was hard, and the pillow was so flat you might want to bring your own.

The room was clean and bright, if small and rather meager. We left the window open all night, which helped it feel fresh. After about ten minutes, the very old woman we’d seen on the stairs came by with a Christian calendar, saying it was a present. Maybe that was meant to stand in for a Gideon Bible? The rest of the place felt ratty and old, and the difference between the description and the actual hotel astounded me. Age itself isn’t the problem, but the smell was. Past the first landing, there was a pungent odor like carpets that had never been cleaned, or something like that. We were too tired to look for another place. One thing in its favor: there’s a superb Greek Restaurant just a few steps away, well worth a visit. You’ll be so full you won’t care about the surroundings.

The outside looked like it could use some maintenance, but our room was modern and nice. The owner was very friendly, and it made for a great-value overnight stay. Breakfast was fine, though fairly basic.
