Vila Sonnberg

The beds were superb, and the apartments are spacious and distinctive, set into a beautiful old villa. The furnishings blend old and new really well. I couldn't give it 5 stars, though: there's no washing machine, the internet is unreliable, and there are no extension cords for charging a phone by the bed. It's also nearly impossible to get in touch with the landlord.

The owners welcomed us so warmly that we felt at home right away. The place is beautiful, with such charming decor. We had thought we'd booked a drab hotel, but we have absolutely no regrets. Highly recommended!

Several emails went unanswered, and the landlord offered no compensation after we had to cancel because of the short-notice accommodation ban. No one can be blamed for the pandemic, but a partial refund of what we paid in advance would have been fair. It was very disappointing and poor form, especially since we would certainly have booked again later.

Finding another place to stay starting the next day took stress, time, and effort, so I can't recommend this booking. The booking portal did refund our costs, but the host of Vila Sonnberg cancelled less than 24 hours before our stay in Flensburg, on the evening before arrival, despite a confirmed booking already paid for by credit card. The message came through the booking portal. We'd had friendly contact with him before, but he gave no explanation or personal statement about the completely unexpected cancellation. Our calls went unanswered.
