Gasthaus Pension Hirsch

We turned up at 7 pm without a reservation, and the owner welcomed us and made us feel at home. The room was clean and comfortable, and I slept really well. It’s a simple rural place with no extra frills, but good value and everything we needed. The restaurant wasn't open during our visit, though the owner kindly brought us fresh coffee in the morning, delivered by his lovely son. There’s a little farm and garden with charming goats, chickens, and geese, plus an adorable church next door. The setting is picturesque, with the Black Forest nearby. I wish we'd had more time to explore the town by bike. I’d stay here again.

For an overnight stop, this is a comfortable little hotel and very cheap for the area. We paid 30€ per person directly, for one single room and one double. It's a bit dated, but that didn't take away from the comfort. I forgot to photograph the shared bathroom. It was large, with a good shower that had strong pressure and plenty of heat, plus three spray options: rain, normal, and a jet below the head.

Really superb.

We were grateful to find a place to stay after the hotels we tried in the Black Forest were either full or had no staff. Then we came across the Gasthause. Oana and Florin welcomed us warmly and showed us the clean, comfortable room without putting any pressure on us. Rick and I hadn't booked a hotel for the day. We wanted to see where the Good Lord would take us. We ended up staying late because we enjoyed the country walk and chatting with Oana and Florin in their garden. My husband got to practise his German, and they practised their English. We feel blessed to have met them and their youngest son, and so glad we stayed. We look forward to seeing them again in this beautiful part of the Black Forest.
