The hotel restaurant was professional and courteous, and breakfast was very good. Our room was spacious and impeccably clean, and the staff, especially at the front desk and breakfast, went out of their way to please. Communication beforehand was excellent, clear, and accommodating, so we got exactly the room we wanted. If you’re visiting Freiburg, I can’t think of a hotel with a better location. Freiburg is also a great place to base a visit to the Black Forest.

We had an excellent lunch with great service in a lovely old-world setting. I’ve eaten a lot of trout, and mine with potatoes was excellent. My wife had the sausage, lentils, and spaetzle.

The location by the cathedral makes this a great place to try traditional German food in Freiburg. My wife and I had been in Germany for three days before we finally sat down to a proper meal at Oberkirchs Weinstuben, and it was worth the wait. Everything tasted authentic and was beautifully prepared. The atmosphere had just the right Freiburg charm, and the service was both professional and warm. We left really impressed.

The prices were hard to justify, and the service took ages. For 25€, the summer salad had just half a cherry tomato. The spring rolls were cold in the middle, and most of the potatoes were still raw inside. Extremely disappointing. This place is a rip-off, avoid it.

We went for the restaurant, not the hotel, and really enjoyed the food. It’s right on Münsterplatz in a lovely old building, with a cozy interior and rustic decor that’s been well preserved. The staff were friendly, though when a couple of order issues came up, they didn’t seem very professional about sorting them out.
