The apartment is clean and quiet, and the central location is its best feature. Tom, the landlord, is very friendly. But the description was greatly exaggerated. After climbing 62 steps, I was still looking for the lovely view over Freiburg. The only window under the roof looks onto a courtyard instead. The kitchen is small but practical, and the bathroom is even smaller. There's no hot water at the sink or any kind of shelf, so I had to put everything in the kitchen between the kettle and toaster. Fine for a day or two, but a week would get annoying.

For the two nights we stayed, it was adequate, but other vacation rentals we've tried have been much better. The apartment was clean enough, no offense to the cleaning staff, and it welcomed pets. Still, there was plenty that could be improved, so I can't rate it higher. We were first directed to the wrong address. Once there, only some of the hallway lights worked, and the stairs were narrow. The room we checked into was tiny. The TV had several glitches, with only two or three channels coming through reasonably well. The kitchen was usable, but waste sorting wasn't possible, with only general waste and a basket for bottles. The toilet felt like one in a typical old Freiburg building, cramped and without a window.
