Stadthotel Freilassing

It’s about a 10-minute walk from the railway station, and the bus stand is 5-8 minutes away on foot. You can catch a bus there to Salzburg. My room was clean and the Wi-Fi worked well. Breakfast was good and adequate. I personally liked this hotel. The staff were good from reception through to the restaurant, especially the woman at reception. She was very helpful, listened patiently and gave me all the information in detail.

Breakfast was sublime, with more nutritious options than the usual “Kaiser” bread, eggs and “specke.” There was porridge, fresh fruit, banana bread, and gluten-free and nut-and-seed bread. Yummy! The reception staff were very friendly and communicated pleasantly. The hotel has a spiritual vibe, and they were happy to wash my dirty cycling clothes. After staying in several hotels in Austria the week before, this one felt like a breeze. It has a fresh, modern look and a relaxed feel that would suit younger people or anyone who likes modern hotels. It’s a three-story building, with reception on floor number 1. There’s a shared balcony with different seats overlooking the quiet shopping street, and a fridge stocked with soft drinks and beers. You write down what you take. My single room and small bathroom, with a shower, sink and toilet, were clean and fresh. All in all, I was very satisfied and will visit again when I’m in the neighborhood!

The staff were absolutely cordial and pleasant, and they happily took care of our requests. The rooms are simple and clean. The hotel has just reopened after a change of ownership and renovations. It’s in the relatively quiet central market area of Freilassing, and getting to Salzburg by public transport doesn’t take long at all.

Parking was easy to find, and the hotel makes a handy base for visiting Salzburg, about 10-15 minutes away by car. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were kind, and it was quiet too.
