Lindenhof Landgasthof

The balcony was a pleasant spot to unwind after visiting the castles, and the bed was reasonably comfortable. We also appreciated the free parking right outside. But after two nights at Landgasthof Lindenhof, my girlfriend and I wouldn’t recommend it, especially with so many other places to choose from nearby. Breakfast had been advertised, yet there was nothing available in the morning. At checkout, no one was around, so we left the key on the desk without talking to anyone. The horse barn next door also made it pretty unpleasant outside, especially in warm, humid weather. We ran into trouble as soon as we arrived. Despite booking ahead, the woman on duty wasn’t expecting us and seemed irritated that we were checking in. The room was tiny, and although the rest of the hotel appeared empty, we were told we couldn’t switch to a larger one. Wi-Fi barely worked in the room, so we had to sit in a stuffy lounge to get work done. The bathroom was cramped and extremely dated, with almost no water pressure. I could barely move around without hitting the walls, and the area badly needed a deep clean and fresh paint. There’s a nice little German restaurant down the street if you need a quick meal, but I’d look for somewhere else to stay.

The neighborhood is peaceful, with a mall close by and a couple of restaurants about a 5-10 minute walk away. The rooms are on the small side but clean. Our host was attentive and helpful, and service was prompt.

The walls were the worst part. I could hear everything from next door, and unfortunately the man in the room beside us snored loudly all night. The beds and pillows were so uncomfortable I couldn’t sleep, and my back still hurts. The room had no AC or ventilation, so I had to open the window. That brought in noise and cigarette smells from the restaurant outside. When I opened it, the curtain fell down too. I don’t know where to start, this was probably the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. Don’t waste your money here; even a hostel would be better.

A nice hotel, and getting to the exhibition by train is easy. I’m planning to stay here when I’m in town for the Frankfurt exhibitions.
