Atlas Grand Hotel

The staff were very attentive and polite, and both the room and public spaces were comfortable, with lovely furniture. There’s even a piano in the downstairs lounge. We spent three nights at Grand Atlas Hotel and had a superb stay. Our amazing room looked out at Zugspitze. I love tradition, and this Hotel and Garmisch Partenkichen have plenty of it. Please never change. I’d absolutely recommend the hotel and its staff.

I liked the quieter setting, even though it’s a bit of a walk to the main town. Restaurants, bars, and cafes are close by if you don’t want to walk 15-20 minutes to the main Garmisch-Partenkirchen area. The cozy Bavarian Alps feel was just right after full days of skiing and exploring in December. I ended up extending my two nights to three. The hotel has a cafe, bar, dining area, and a very cozy lobby; my room felt cabin-like, roomy, and comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and made my stay feel restful and welcoming. Many thanks to "Neigh-bush-a", though I may have got the spelling wrong, for being so kind and helping make the stay a positive one.

The staff were the best part of my stay. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and when I wasn’t feeling well, the man at the front desk brought my room service food quickly. I was very impressed, and grateful to them. The hotel has potential, but needs renovation to call itself a four-star place. My room had no hot water, and only a very thin shade instead of proper curtains. It stayed too bright at night and seriously disturbed my sleep.

We left without staying after the receptionist, a mustached man, treated my friend and me badly. We were asking about check-in and I politely asked whether 13:30 might be possible instead of 15:00. He responded rudely, threw our passports onto the counter, and said, “If you don’t want to stay, you can go.” I said there was no need to be aggressive, then we left for another hotel, where we were treated courteously and professionally. The hotel lost the chance to rent two rooms because of his behavior. I hope this is dealt with so it doesn’t happen again.
