Hotel Königshof

It was a good stay. The room was nice and had an amazing view of the Alps, and the bathroom had a bathtub and a wide, clean mirror. The hotel also has a well-equipped gym and a nice sauna.

Take the negative reviews seriously. I wish I had. We arrived just before 20:45 and were told the kitchen was closed, despite the hotel’s own sheet saying 21:00. At check-in, the Asian employee asked for personal information I didn’t think was required. I declined, and she was rude in every interaction after that. The room was dated and poorly maintained. The toilet first wouldn’t flush, then kept flushing. There was no fridge. The shower head wouldn’t stay put, the glass door leaked and flooded the floor, and the soap dispenser was empty until we asked twice to have it filled. No bathroom fan or air conditioning either. The coffee was cheap instant powder, with no cream. Parking was one of the main reasons I chose the hotel, but the garage is basically only for compact cars. Our midsize crossover rental couldn’t fit while leaving room to open the doors, and the only spot we could use was reserved. Even getting back out took serious maneuvering. I lived in Europe for ten years, so I know tight garages, and this one was absurd. The alternative was paying every two hours for outside parking from 20:00 to 08:00, while a perfectly good lot visible from our room was marked staff only. We asked to cut our stay down to one night and were told that wasn’t possible. After the first night I woke up with several bites on my hand, shown in the photos. They started as intensely itchy welts and quickly became red, swollen, and painful. By afternoon they were hard to ignore. I reported it to the front desk and got complete indifference, no apology, no concern, not even basic insect cream. The same staff member tried to cover for the problems by making up “facts” she couldn’t possibly have known. It felt like a blatant attempt to deflect responsibility instead of dealing with what happened. The attitude was dismissive, dishonest, and completely unprofessional. Nobody wants painful, itchy spider or bed bug bites from a hotel room on holiday. That was bad enough, and the staff dismissing it entirely made it unacceptable. Outdated rooms, unfriendly staff, unusable parking, and insect bites. Avoid this place.

The reception staff stayed polite and helpful, and the location was good, but service overall was really minimal and the stay was disappointing. We’d requested twin beds months ahead, yet found one double bed when we arrived. The room was small and very hot, with no air conditioning; the sheets were stained, so we had to change them ourselves. Housekeeping was inconsistent and only half-cleaned the room during our stay. Curtains let in too much light for sleeping, and the elevator was unreliable. For the price, the quality felt poor.

Just right for our snowboarding trip. The room was basic but clean, and the sauna and gym were spacious and well designed.
