A very nice hotel.

In Buer, the central location made getting around easy, and check-in with the key safe was straightforward. The hotel is clean and solid, without frills. We didn't see any staff while we were there. Breakfast was very basic and definitely overpriced, so a nearby bakery is probably a better choice.

I tried to check in around lunchtime, but the hotel was closed. While I was dealing with that, the owner had my car towed away. We don't need businesspeople like this in our city. I absolutely can't recommend a hotel that treats guests this way.

After getting the €72 overnight stay with breakfast confirmed by phone, I was later told my booking had been canceled because the hotel was overbooked for a large event. When I called again, they couldn't explain why that happened after the confirmation. Eventually they offered to rebook, perhaps at a higher rate or with breakfast included. I said a €10-20 extra charge was acceptable because I urgently needed a place to stay. At check-in, though, I was charged €111 for the night and breakfast, about €40 above the original price, and had to pay by credit card right away. The room was okay, but not worth that price. The shower screen rails were dirty, and there wasn't even a basic glass in the room. I've stayed in much better places for the same money. Once home, I found that the original €72 had also been taken from my account. I asked the hotel to refund one of the payments. First I got a joking reply, "Too bad you noticed," then a promise they'd look into it. Nothing happened for a long time. It took calls and messages almost every day before I finally got the €72 back. There was no apology, explanation, or goodwill gesture for all the extra effort, hassle, and lack of clear pricing. Check24 wasn't much help with my complaint either. In my view, the organization, communication, and fairness all leave a lot to be desired. It's a shame, this is no way to treat guests.
