The restaurant food was delicious, and the portions were big, so be warned. They do let you share, luckily! We had a very clean, comfortable suite with a small fridge, kettle, and separate living room. The little desktop-style fan was a welcome extra. I wake up much earlier than my spouse, so having that separate room worked especially well for me. We spent several days here while visiting Gengenbach and the surrounding area. The walk from the train station was short and easy, making train travel convenient and cost effective. We’d be happy to return to the hotel if we’re in the area again.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, with everything we needed, and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast was fantastic. Private, secure garage parking was an added bonus, even with the small fee.

We had a great meal here, with tasty food brought out nicely and attentive service. The menu is very good, and they have good local wines. There are two dining rooms with lovely decor, and the place is central and relaxed, with no rush or hassle.

Breakfast was very good, traditional German, and the room in the newer back building was modern, clean, and comfortable, with a nice bathroom, roomy enough layout, and good beds. The seating furniture wasn't comfortable, though, and the room could get very hot in summer. It has an elevator. The front building has traditional rooms, while the attached rear building is modern. Parking was the tightest I've ever dealt with in Germany. The restaurant dinner was the worst meal of our three-week trip this year. I had pork loin and my son had lamb, and both were cooked far too long. The pork was dry, and the lamb was hard and very well done. I know German food well after 44 years of traveling there, from Michelin Star places to small guesthouse kitchens, and my grandfather was a master chef in Germany. I really can't understand the good restaurant reviews. We saw a woman put a dish into the microwave in the kitchen, which can ruin meat that should be tender and juicy, especially if it's left in too long. I wanted to refuse to pay, but didn't want a fight. The front tables on the street, overlooking the town square, had a great atmosphere, much better in my opinion than the rather stuffy modern courtyard at the back. Smoking isn't allowed at the courtyard tables, which is the only open-air outdoor dining place I've come across in Germany with that rule, though there's a smoking station less than 10 feet away. Go figure. All things considered, especially the location, you won't do better.

We woke up to birds chirping from a very clean room, and the whole place was lovely. We stayed in the back building, linked to the main hotel by a beautiful courtyard. The bed and bedding were comfortable, and the owner was very nice. Dinner at the restaurant was great, especially the white asparagus with schnitzel and the saurbraten. Everyone was friendly, and Gengenbach is a beautiful little town with enough shops to keep you busy during the day. It's close to the Black Forest, so the location is great. The parking structure is secured at night; it can be a little tricky to get in and out with a large vehicle, but a small car had no problem. We'd love to come back someday.
