Schwarzwaldhotel Gengenbach

The rooms were large, quiet, and comfortable, with good Wi-Fi and a good breakfast. There’s parking, and dogs are welcome. It’s not far from the historic centre, though our room faced the other wing directly and had no view.

The restaurant was nice. We had dinner on arrival and breakfast was included. Dinner had a reasonable choice of family-friendly dishes, while breakfast was simple but good. In summer, dining is outside on the path to the entrance, which was lovely, though arriving guests had to walk right past the diners. The rooms were large and clean, the staff very helpful, and driving here was easy. There’s a big free car park with chargers and a small indoor pool. The hotel is on the edge of town and isn’t especially picturesque, but the lovely town centre is a short walk away and has some nice places to eat.

I travel from the USA for work and stay here for three to five weeks at a time. The rooms are the best in the region, and the staff are the best at everything, always willing to accommodate requests, including my special dietary needs. Laundry service is available here, which isn’t usually offered by hotels in this region. The new director, Mr. Michael Sandhass, has made great improvements to the rooms, dining rooms, breakfast, and professionalism. When I travel to Germany for work, I feel like I have a German family here in Gengenbach.

We were here for just two nights and ate at the restaurant both evenings because the food was that good. The breakfast was outstanding too, with everything you could ask for. Michael was especially great at his job, and nothing felt like too much trouble. A real gem of a hotel, with good rooms and about a 10-minute walk to the town centre. If you’re in the area, this is a must-stay. Thanks so much from Matt & Sue, it was a truly wonderful experience.
