Quiet, pleasant place, and the price was fair.

I stayed here from 26 to 27 September 2025, and this was the worst hotel and service I've had in years. I paid for breakfast and expected it to be available. I got up at 6:30 and waited until 8:00 for staff to come and issue my bill. Breakfast was supposed to start at 8:00, but when I went downstairs, nobody was there. I sat in my car until 8:30 because there was no one to take my room key. In the end, I left without breakfast or a bill. As I expected, a hotel employee later contacted me and sent an invoice, but it was made out to a private person instead of a company, even though I had said when booking that the room would be paid for by a company from its account. He refused to change it. He said breakfast cost extra, although the booking stated that it was included in the price. Instead of apologizing for the missing breakfast and sending a proper invoice, they were rude and mocked me. I'm shocked. This is the first time anything like this has happened to me in Germany.

My bicycle was damaged and several parts were stolen while it was left overnight in a closed shed on the guesthouse property. The shed wasn't locked because the key was missing, and no owner was around. After several calls, the owner made no effort to replace the bike or compensate me, so I'm writing to warn other cyclists. I knew what to expect when I booked at the Golden Anchor in Genthin. The rooms were clean and tidy, though not modern. During my stay, neither the heating nor the television worked, possibly because of a new owner. There was no soap in the bathroom and just one towel.

The bathroom had been modernized and was spotless, and the rooms themselves were very clean. But the furniture was very old, there was no double bed, and the online photos looked quite different from what we found. The location took some getting used to, and parking was a disaster. We couldn't find a spot in the hotel's own lot, and with no parking restrictions around, we ended up several hundred meters away. It felt strange. We booked three nights but left after the first because we were uncomfortable, especially not knowing if there'd be a place to park in the evening. The hallway smelled of smoke, apparently because other guests ignored the ban or smoked by the open entrance downstairs, which wasn't welcoming at check-in. I can't comment on the staff because everything was anonymous and we didn't see anyone. The keys came from key boxes.
