Künstlerhaus Lenz

Friendly staff, good food, and a good hotel.

The service was good, and the food was very nice too.

The food was delicious, and even with fewer staff around, we got our orders without much of a wait. That part was absolutely fine. The service during our Christmas party, though, was appalling, and we left very disappointed after choosing Künstlerhaus Lenz on the strength of its positive reviews. We were first shown to a very cold room and told the heating was broken. When we asked, we were allowed to move somewhere a bit warmer, and having some privacy there was nice. When our drinks were ordered, the waitress got very agitated and kept complaining about her colleagues. We would have understood a simple explanation that staffing was short and things might take longer, as happens in many places. Instead, she complained that one server hadn't shown up and that “the guy in the kitchen is driving me crazy too.” We said we were paying customers who just wanted to eat, drink, and enjoy ourselves, and things improved only a little. When someone asked about cocktails, she replied, “Yes, later.” She also kept telling the youngest person in our group, a toddler, to eat and to take out his pacifier while eating and talking. We already felt that was inappropriate. Then she actually took it out herself, which felt intrusive. No one should touch someone else's child.

We got our food without a long wait. The portions were very big and tasted excellent. Service was fine.
