I spent four nights there during a stretch of very hot summer weather, and the 3foot walls helped keep things comfortable. The Schloss is being restored with great care by its owner, Dr. Wehr, and it has a rich history, including visits from Martin Luther.

We only came across the castle by chance. We wanted to take a few photos from outside, then met the owner's son, who runs the place. He was a lovely, friendly man and showed us around the whole castle and its exhibitions. The castle sits high on a mountain in a stunning spot. It's been beautifully restored, with a lot of hard work and money put into it, and everything we saw was beautiful and interesting. Go have a look and support the project. The restaurant must be great as well.

One thing to be clear about: the rooms are in the annex, not inside the castle itself, as the picture shows. The rooms were alright, though it can get chilly in such an old building with thick walls. The castle is impressive, and the view is breathtaking. There's a museum inside, and the oldest section is still being worked on. There's a restaurant too, but it recently changed owners and the new one is, to put it mildly, very unfriendly.
