ACHAT Hotel Darmstadt Griesheim

If you’re driving around the Rhein/Main area and need to be near the Autobahn, the location works really well. It’s less convenient for Darmstadt itself, though there are tramways for getting around. The rooms are OK, without any extras. Service is pretty minimal, with some good exceptions.

I was considering booking a stay, so I checked the place out on Google Maps first. The way they answered critical reviews put me off. Replies along the lines of “that’s not entirely true,” “you’re lying,” or “surely that didn’t happen” made me wonder whether every negative reviewer could really be lying.

For the price, this was a really comfortable, easy place to stay. There’s a great cafe within walking distance, along with a swimming pool, restaurants, supermarkets, and the local S Bahn station, which connects easily to Frankfurt. It doesn’t claim to be top class, and I had no real complaints, though I would’ve liked decent coffee in the room. You do get a free welcome drink at the bar. I’d recommend it.

The staff are just as accommodating as I remembered, and they helped me arrange a taxi to the airport, which isn’t very far away. A lot has changed since my last visit: the lobby feels more modern and welcoming, and the rooms feel different in a good way. The bed was comfortable too. It was a very good stay.
