SeeHotel Großräschen

The rooms were clean and pleasant, and the conference room had good acoustics, so it works fine for events. The restaurant food was just okay at both lunch and breakfast, with little flavor. I didn’t think the lunch portion was enough, and breakfast didn’t offer much variety.

The hotel is cozy and pretty, right by the łąkę side, though the rooms are quite small and the bathrooms could use renovation. My check-in was a mess: the front desk woman didn’t speak English and had trouble processing my payment, so I wasn’t allowed into my room. It took two hours of effort to sort out. I was also told there’d be no front desk staff overnight, which made it difficult for my colleagues arriving after midnight. The check-in experience was well below what I expected.

We did manage to have a relaxing stay in the quiet area. There are good time slots for yoga and meditation on the pier, well-kept rental bikes, a couple of playgrounds, and mostly friendly staff. The buffet dinner was quite good for the price, and while breakfast is simple, it was filling. The lobby coffee was great. The hotel also seemed to handle hygiene well, with masks required in public areas, and there were so few people that distancing was easy. A large Rewe and Rossman are near the railway station. Still, it didn’t feel like a four-star hotel, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone afraid of spiders. Both the main building and villa were full of them, including steatods, though I think this may only be a summer problem. A staff member removed one from our ceiling after we asked, but treated our discomfort like a joke. By morning, it felt like the choice was between sleeping in a hot, stuffy room or waking up with a bunch of spiders. There’s no air conditioning, though you can ask for a fan. The services listed on the hotel website and Booking.com weren’t available when we asked reception. We did manage to book a massage after speaking with the owner, who was professional and friendly, but it took too much effort and we couldn’t get the time flexibility we wanted. The spa is just a sauna, and borrowing tennis equipment was also difficult. Some things weren’t the hotel’s fault, but could have been explained better: the nearest lake doesn’t allow swimming, and almost half the places in town were closed because of Corona.

The area around the hotel is quiet and still being developed, with at least one restaurant within walking distance. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were tidy as you’d expect at a four-star hotel, and there was a broad selection of good food. I’ll probably come back in the future.
