Hotel Goldene Traube

The biggest frustration was that the place is completely unstaffed. There was nobody on site to help with even basic requests like extra pillows or forks. The sink also drained poorly, and the Wi-Fi was nearly unusable. The room itself was clean, nice, and spacious enough, and the location right on the main street is hard to beat. I wanted to rate it higher, but compared with our other stays in Germany, it cost more and came with more downsides. If those issues don't bother you, it's otherwise a nice place to stay.

After a long day of travel, we couldn't get into the room until two hours later. The self check-in machine was broken, and after trying both phone numbers several times, we got no answer. We had to find another way in. We had booked for five people but were given a room for four, with nobody available to ask about a different room. When we finally got in, it wasn't ready, with no window decoration and unfinished wall sockets. Right in the city centre, about five minutes from the train station. The room was clean and recently renovated, with a good mattress and pillow. It's a nice hotel with everything you need for sleeping and showering. Parking is the one thing to watch out for, since there's hardly any free parking nearby. Otherwise, it's fine.

It was clean, but I wouldn't recommend staying here even for one night. The rooms were terrible, and it was cold overnight. Breakfast was basic, with little choice: ham, cheese, eggs, a few vegetables, and milk with muesli. The receptionist didn't speak English, so communication was difficult. We were lucky that, when we arrived late at around 22:30, the receptionist was outside the hotel to hand us our key. The pictures on Booking didn't match the reality.
