It worked well as an affordable place to stop halfway, with a reasonable price and good, clean facilities. We had what we needed nearby, and there was a big, clean fenced play area for dogs with toys. The person at the hotel was friendly but spoke little English. We got by easily with Google Translate, though as someone who doesn't speak German, I would have appreciated a bit of basic English. That seems more common than not here.

The staff spoke very little English, but they were really pleasant. It's a big plus that pets are welcome, and there's a fenced dog training park right on the property. There isn't wheelchair access, though.

The hotel itself was really nice inside, and the room was clean and tidy. Staff were pleasant and the service was great. The outside looks a bit rough, with its mix of campsite, hotel, steakhouse, and zoo, so don't judge it by that. The food was affordable and tasty. My cheeseburger and fries were generously sized, the beer was reasonably priced, and the schnaps came ice cold and tasted good.

We camped in a tent on the hotel grounds and had a great time. The staff were very helpful, especially Ms. Schmidts. The buffet restaurant was excellent, with a meal for €20, and breakfast cost 7. Highly recommend.

The Wildpark and the Oase swimming pool are both within walking distance, and they're great for children of all ages. To visit the Barlach exhibition in the Gertrudenstraße or see the "Schwebende" in the Güstrow Dom, you'll need to drive into the town centre.
