The Apricot is a standard three-star hotel in Hamburg's eastern suburbs, with clean rooms, decent prices, nice staff, and a good on-site restaurant. The U-Bahn station for the U2 and U4 is right across the street, and it's a residential area, but only about five minutes to the city center. I brought my daughters, and we were underwhelmed. The staff were great and the hotel was generally okay, but it felt very ordinary, and there are better places to stay. The main problems were the internet and the heat. The Wi-Fi hardly worked, maybe 10% of the time, and staff had no fix for it. For a hotel this new, I couldn't believe the connection was so unreliable. There was no air conditioning either, which made staying on the third floor in summer really tough. If you can't cope with heat, don't stay here. Breakfast was a surprise too. At check-in, they said breakfast was in the restaurant. It was a decent, typical German breakfast, but at checkout they told us it cost an extra €13 per person. I found that completely incomprehensible.

Anja gave us a lovely welcome, and the service and cleanliness were impeccable. This was a brand new hotel when we stayed, and it was very comfortable and good value. The affordable price didn't make it feel budget at all. We'd definitely recommend it and will be back :)

It was a really good experience, and I'd come back. The place was nice, quiet, and clean, with a good choice at breakfast. I would've liked another mirror in the bathroom, though.
