The online listing and my confirmation email both said check-in was open until 11 pm, as you can see in my photo. My train was delayed, so I arrived at 9:30 pm, but the front desk was dark and empty. I pressed the button for late arrivals, and nobody came. There are two emergency numbers for guests, but I called both four times and got no answer. I waited 30 minutes in the live chat, with no response there either. Outside, there are several machines for collecting keys, but I had no codes and no instructions. With all those supposed options, I was still left stranded. Absolutely insane.

The service was really good. We arrived too early, but they accommodated us and were always kind and helpful. It's right beside a big train station. The bathroom was very small and not especially modern, but clean. For the price, the whole stay was amazing.

I can't comment on the rooms or location, since I had to cancel a few days before my visit. Booking.com guidelines would have meant paying a large share of the rate, but the hotel was understanding and we reached an agreement. A very positive experience.

The clean, quiet room and handy location near the Altona stop made this an excellent budget hotel. I could get to most parts of the city easily, and the hotel delivered on what its price promised.

We spent four nights here and had a good time. The room was really clean, and the staff were very nice and friendly at check-in. The price felt fair for a hotel so central in Altona. There's no elevator because the building is old, so if getting around is difficult for you, it may be worth asking for a lower-floor room. It wasn't an issue for us.
