The rooms were so spacious and open, which made our short city break comfortable and relaxing. It was a great place to unwind after being out in the city, and the stay at Hotel East was smooth and enjoyable. I couldn’t find a bathrobe in the room. Reception said they were kept by the spa lockers, but there wasn’t one there when I checked. Not a big issue, and the staff were friendly about it, but it would help if robes were reliably available or guests were told clearly where to find them. I’d happily come back.

The end-of-year party was the one letdown. It felt very expensive for what we got, just two small plates of pasta, and I couldn’t eat the parmesan pasta. I hope there’ll be more menu choices and better value at future events. The east Hotel Hamburg is lovely, with beautiful décor, especially in the main hall, restaurant, and bar. The front desk, bar, and restaurant staff were polite, professional, and always smiling. Their warm welcome made the visit memorable, and I’d happily return.

Anette made us feel welcome and was so accommodating, and Maurice looked after us all evening as an attentive, professional waiter. The food was lovely and the atmosphere warm and inviting, just right for a night out with the team. We had a great time and would happily come back. Highly recommend!

My first stay at East Hotel Hamburg was in May, and it was wonderful. I loved the design and atmosphere, especially the room with the large bathtub. So when I booked again for an October work trip through Navan (Expedia PartnerCentral), I specifically chose and paid for the Aqua Room. On arrival, I was given a different room without the features of the category I’d booked. I showed the confirmed reservation stating Aqua Room, but the front desk said the booking partner and their system had made an error and there was nothing they could do unless I paid another €35 for the room I’d already reserved. After a long travel day, I reluctantly paid. The mistake was clearly between the hotel and its partner, but I had other work plans and didn’t want to spend more time at reception, so I planned to sort it out later. What followed was even more disappointing. Management acknowledged the partner’s error but refused to refund the €35, telling me to pursue it with the outside provider myself. It leaves me wondering how guests can trust the hotel’s booking and notification system if they can arrive to find their room downgraded due to an alleged error, even when their company has paid for a higher category. For a hotel of this standard, I expected a more professional response focused on the guest. The property is beautiful, but the lack of accountability and poor handling left a lasting bad impression. I travel to Hamburg for work several times a year, and I’ll look for another option in future.
