Hotel Marco Polo

The bathroom tiles on both the walls and floor were disgusting, and the shower curtain was filthy. There were spiders in the corners, and the furniture was old and dirty. The bed sheets were dirty too. The room was far too small for two people. Worst hotel ever, do not stay here!

We had to drive around for 20 minutes looking for street parking because there’s absolutely nowhere to park at the hotel. We’d booked and paid for one large room for six people, but were split between two rooms. Breakfast was supposed to be included, but wasn’t. It cost 7 Euro per person for a lousy selection of bread and spreads. One room smelled of cigarette smoke. When we told the receptionist, he brushed it off, even though we were grossed out and wanted the room we’d originally paid for, which apparently wasn’t available. A really crappy experience.

The room was cold when I got back around midnight, and the bathroom light didn’t work. I tried calling reception, but the phone was broken too. Check-in itself had been okay, and I’d left my luggage in a small room that looked fine. In the morning, staff didn’t respond to my greeting or seem to care that the breakfast tables were still a mess from earlier. Breakfast was poor and not worth the 7€. This was my worst experience in ten years. Try to avoid this place.

The rooms are lovely and very spacious, with windows facing the street or balconies facing the garden. The prices at Marco Polo are amazing, and the service was welcoming. Breakfast hours were good too. A great hotel in a small package, five out of five, and I’ll definitely come back.
