B&B Hotel Hamm

Breakfast was filling enough and I liked the espresso machine, though 12.50€/person didn’t feel worthwhile with a market and baguette deli nearby in the train station. Food is only allowed in the lobby, not the rooms. Our room was small and plain, with a big stain on the floor by the bed, and it wasn’t well kept. Staff were friendly, but the repeated interruptions made the stay frustrating. Three times during our five days, staff opened the door while we were in bed or asleep, even though the *Do Not Disturb* sign was up. The last time, at 11 AM, a staff member insisted it was 12 and that he needed to do his work. I showed him the time on his phone. Checkout is at 12, and we didn’t have to leave early. It’s a decent budget option, a step above a Holiday Inn, but I’d look at the hotels next door if possible. Privacy matters here.

You can book online or right at the door, any time of day. It’s a great place with self-service.

We were happy with the stay. Our room was clean and warm, with comfortable beds, fresh towels, working WiFi and a TV. The bathroom had a shower, hairdryer, liquid soap and shower gel, and the AC could be adjusted to suit us. Breakfast had a good range of quality choices, including vegetarian options, so I’d recommend getting it. We picked B&B Hotel Hamm because dogs are allowed in the room, which mattered since we were travelling with our Maltese dog Leo. Parking was free and access was easy. We arrived very late, at 2:30 am, and I worried we might not be able to check in, but the self-service was simple. You can also check in at reception, or use self-service outside office hours. It worked well for our trip, whether for a short or longer stay.

Parking gets crowded, and if you arrive late you may or may not find a space. The rooms were surprisingly quiet, and the hotel is right by the railway station. I’d stay here again.
