Hotel Brunnenhof

A small, characterful hotel with a lovely breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Feels more like a home to live in than a hotel.

The room was clean and a normal size, with a modern bathroom and unusually generous storage for a hotel. It had complete, old-fashioned rustic furnishings: a wardrobe, bedside tables, desk, seating, and storage. The TV had lots of extra channels beyond the usual free-to-air rubbish. We were in double room 5, and the value for money earns the five stars. The terrace seating would have been charming if it hadn’t been winter. The hotel is in a residential part of Steinheim near Kelsterbach Airport, quiet apart from the flights. There are three free parking spaces right at the hotel. There’s no breakfast, but there is a kettle, some tea, instant coffee, and water, with other drinks available to buy in the hallway. Check-in was by phone and the key was easy to get from a drop box. We left early, so we didn’t really meet the staff. On January 1st in the evening, we spotted a fairly large, maybe angled, spider in the room. Well, there are gardens and trees behind the hotel, and we let the useful little animal stay instead of putting it out in the snow. 😉

I’m here for work. Room 2 is cozy and small, with its own shower and bathroom. There’s plenty of bathroom storage for clothes, towels, toiletries, and toilet paper, and they provide a hairdryer and bath towels. The bed was freshly made and sits right by the window. Its mattress is okay, though softer than I like. There’s a little armchair, a desk with a TV, and a small balcony looking out over the parking lot and the old town of Hanau-Steinheim.
