Hotel Königshof am Funkturm Comfort

My train was stranded in hannover late at night, so I looked for a nearby hotel with decent prices and facilities and checked in at the last minute. The dim lighting made the hotel look different from its pictures, especially at night, but for the price I thought it was decent. I liked the antiques inside. My single room was clean, though a bit too hot for a Sommer night. Luckily, the windows open, unlike in some other hotels I've stayed in. It's not the most stylish place, but it's ideal for a comfortable budget stay. Even with the window open, my room was relatively quiet despite the large street nearby.

I stayed here from January 25, 2026, to February 7, 2026. The hotel is very central, and everywhere is within walking distance. The staff are respectful, the rooms are clean, and breakfast is good.

My experience was very disappointing. The room was new, but dirty from the moment I walked in. I had to speak to staff more than three times just to get the bathroom cleaned. On the first day it smelled awful, and I found a used Kleenex tissue stuck in the drain. I removed it myself, then later found another used tissue on the mirror, and the smell still hadn't gone. I asked several times for cleaning, but no one came. The next morning I put the room-cleaning sign on the door. Someone came, but left the tissues and didn't clean the bathroom properly. The floor was still dirty; they only made the bed and changed the towels. Completely unacceptable for a hotel.

The staff were really kind, and the place was clean, but I didn't feel the hotel itself offered enough for the price. The rooms are small, the bed sits very low, and the cushions are almost flat. The lamps sometimes stop working, and noise from the hallway carries so badly it feels like people are in your room. The location wasn't great for me either. You have to cross the station to get to the center, and I didn't always feel safe in the area. It just costs too much for what it is.
