Hotel Schwarzer Bär

It's a great place to stay if you're seeing a show at the Capitol. The outside had a retro look that I loved, though I didn't get a photo. Getting inside was a little confusing, and the staff's English wasn't great. I'm not judging, since my German is pretty bad too, just letting other visitors know. They did manage to upgrade our room when we realized we'd booked the wrong type. Breakfast was the usual cold cuts, cereal, and juices, but it wasn't bad.

The location is perfect, right in the heart of the city with shops all around, and the price is unbeatable. You get what four-star hotels offer for half the price. The one frustrating thing was being unable to find anyone at reception. I had to call to get the door opened, and when I phoned once from outside to ask for something, nobody answered. I also knocked on the reception office door twice, once at night and once in the morning, but no one was there.

It's an older, apartment-style building, and the restaurant and rooms have a nice view of the road. There are good places to eat nearby, and it's easy to reach by train or bus. The staff are friendly, and breakfast was good.

The location is great, and my room was clean and bigger than I expected. It was a little noisy for a while in the morning, but the stay was better than I thought it would be.
