Beach Apartments Heiligenhafen

The location is hard to beat, right beside the sea and harbor with a pedestrian zone next door. The resort itself is fantastic, with options from hotel rooms to apartments, and our apartment had everything we needed. The sauna and fitness room were excellent, with water available in the fitness room. There are cozy seating areas throughout, and you can play foosball and billiards for free in the basement. Live music or some other entertainment would have been a nice highlight. The pool is much too small for such a large resort, especially with lots of children there, so it doesn't suit anyone who wants to swim. The breakfast buffet is very good, though salmon is only offered at weekends and the fruit salad includes some canned fruit. Dogs are allowed at the front of the restaurant, and many guests bring dog beds. At weekends it feels like a slalom course, while the non-dog section is too small to find a seat. Tables aren't set and plates are rarely cleared. The service is clearly understaffed, though the staff are attentive and friendly. Dogs barking from the apartment next door can be heard, so this place is definitely for dog lovers.

The next visit is already something we're looking forward to. This was our first trip to Heiligenhafen with our family and dog, and the relaxing feeling started as soon as we arrived. The apartments are incredibly well equipped, the sea view is stunning, and the bread delivery, with truly delicious rolls, felt like a lovely luxury. We spent three days enjoying life by the sea, along the promenade, and in our own private whirlpool. The whole team was warm and welcoming, and the place felt wonderfully family and dog friendly, so we booked our next stay at reception as we were leaving. We mentioned a couple of small issues in person, including a loose trim piece in the kitchen, and they were fixed quickly. People with disabilities are welcome. The complex isn't entirely barrier-free, but staff take individual needs into account when you book, and they handled our request reliably. The grounds, promenade, pier, restaurants, and many restrooms can be reached by wheelchair or mobility aid, or by elevator. You can get a wheelchair right up to the beach and, in some places, as far as the beach chairs. Beach wheelchairs are generally available to rent too. We made use of the small sauna every day after our long walks. The staff were exceptionally friendly from the moment we arrived. Our upstairs apartment at Panama Beach House looked directly over the inland lake and was modern, very clean, and nicely furnished. The kitchen had more equipment than we expected, including several extras. We really have nothing negative to say and highly recommend it.

The new promenade and everything around it is beautifully and lovingly designed, and the staff are super friendly and focused on service. We were here for the first time and are absolutely thrilled. The apartment was tasteful and well equipped, though we missed having a microwave in the kitchen. Our ground-floor terrace overlooking the lake was the one disappointment: it was dirty and neglected, with bird droppings on the floor and patio furniture, so it was hardly usable. Housekeeping should pay more attention to it. Apart from that, everything was perfect, and we'd love to come back. :-)
