Haus am See - Steinwarder HAS-01B

Super, super, super.

This place is too neglected for me to book again, and I can only advise against it. Apartment 018 at this address, shown in the pictures, was filthy: dog hair on the bed, insects everywhere, and cobwebs on many of the windows.

The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen had plenty of equipment, but dog hair on the bed was one of several problems. House 018 was very dirty, which felt outrageous for the price. The walls had squashed mosquitoes on them, and cobwebs were everywhere, with their inhabitants. We found almost 20 in the balcony corners. The carpet was dirty and stained yellow, and the mirror was greasy. At first we felt so uncomfortable that we cleaned what we could reach ourselves. That helped a little. The shower was in a small room with ventilation that only worked moderately well, and it was completely covered in mold. The shower head was badly calcified and crooked, so we didn’t dare turn the water up full blast. The water and temperature controls were damaged too. One sunshade was broken, and the only way to air out the apartment was through the patio door. Apparently there was a key for the other windows, but we weren’t given it. It’s not a bad place to stay if everything is properly cleaned, and then the price would be reasonable. But in this disgusting condition, I still feel we were ripped off. You should know that.

The staff were friendly, which earns the two stars. The holiday apartment in Haus am See 37 was a disaster: leftover food from the previous guest was under the sofa bed, the vacuum was completely full, and cobwebs covered the balcony. The sofa bed was so worn out that we had to use the bunk bed mattresses instead.
