DORMERO Hotel München-Kirchheim Messe

The sewage smell in our room was the worst part. It smelled like a public toilet until we covered the open drain ourselves. Then, when we turned on the bathroom fan, cigarette smoke started coming into the room from hotel staff smoking in an unattended area, despite this being a non-smoking hotel. The room had no minibar as advertised and only one chair for two people. They said the hotel was full and wouldn't move us, although most of it looked empty. The buildings are about 50 metres apart with a road between them, and the lobby and main facilities are in one building. Going to the sauna meant getting dressed to cross outside in the cold. Cleaning in the shared areas was also poor: the same dirt was still there after a week. We'd expected good value, but it felt worse than a hostel, and I apologize to hostels for saying that.

Work has me sleeping in a different hotel nearly every night, so I can say this one deserves far more praise than it gets. The location is excellent, and both the hotel and rooms were spotless. The staff and manager were ready to help with anything, at any time. Incredibly good hotel.

Breakfast was generous and really delicious, and my room was clean and quiet. The welcome and customer service were friendly too. I had a very pleasant stay at DORMERO Hotel München-Kirchheim Messe, and I'd happily come back.

Two days before we were due to arrive, they cancelled our stay, saying they'd overbooked. When we called, emailed and messaged to ask what had happened, nobody got back to us. They even blamed invalid card details, although the full payment had gone through a month earlier. In the end, booking.com found us somewhere else and explained the cancellation was because of overbooking. Terrible service.
