When we arrived at 9 pm during peak season, the room we’d booked by phone for three nights wasn’t available, and nobody knew about the reservation. We had to make around 50 calls before finding somewhere for one night, then look for another hotel and move again the next morning. Our Lake Constance holiday was still lovely, and we’re very happy with the place we ended up staying. But Pension Schwalbennest never apologized. We’re very disappointed by the guesthouse and the way we were treated.

Breakfast was a real treat, with fresh sausage and cheese rather than packaged products, plus eggs and homemade jam. The hosts are warm and welcoming, do their best to meet your wishes, and are glad to suggest sights and excursions. The rooms are rustic, so don’t expect luxury: it’s an old farmhouse and the floorboards creak. Hedwangen is remote but not cut off. Buses to Überlingen run hourly until late, and an adult one-way fare is €3.60. The landlady can give you more details. It feels like a family home, thanks to the warm hospitality.

They asked for a larger deposit by email than the booking portal had specified. We had to cancel, and even after several written requests, the extra amount we’d paid was never returned. They can keep what they’re entitled to, but not more. If this happens regularly, it could bring in a few extra euros. I strongly advise against booking here. I’d give no stars if that were possible, but the form requires at least one. :-(

The Sebastiani family made us feel welcome again on my second stay. They’re friendly, and the place has a warm, family feel. The accommodation is lovely and peaceful, with great value for the price. Highly recommended. Warm wishes from Affalterbach, R. Bauer

There’s a very cozy, wood-filled feel to the place, and the hosts are wonderfully hospitable. It should suit anyone who likes that kind of setting. Definitely recommended.
